TOOL 01 / PLAN THE SHEET
Sheet cutting planner
Compare two uniform-grid layouts, allow for margins and cut gaps, and work out how many sheets your project needs.

Enter your measurements to get started.
Compares two uniform grids only. It does not search mixed rotations, irregular nesting, guillotine cut sequences or grain direction. Gap is a simple spacing allowance, not a measured blade kerf. Verify a sample before cutting a full order.
SHOW THE WORKING
How the numbers
come together.
Across = floor((usable width + gap) ÷ (piece width + gap)); down = floor((usable height + gap) ÷ (piece height + gap)). Compare the original and 90° orientations. Sheets = ceil(order quantity ÷ pieces per sheet).
A SMALL WORKED EXAMPLE
From inputs
to something useful.
On a 297 × 420 mm sheet, a 10 mm edge margin leaves 277 × 400 mm. For 90 × 50 mm pieces with 3 mm gaps, the original grid fits 3 × 7 = 21 pieces; the rotated grid fits 5 × 4 = 20. A 100-piece order needs five sheets with the chosen uniform grid.
